Gone are the simple days of starving myself to fit into cute prom dresses. But it is that time of year that involves Christmas parties and family dinners so a dress still must be worn in some fashion but what about all the good food I’ve waited all year to have? See the problem? Okay, I’m lying, I don’t do dresses but looking good in my pants is a good thing too.
There are a million ways to lose weight, but after so many years of yoyo dieting and trying everything from diet pills to starvation, below is how I get ready for the holiday season. And the best part, they are easy recipes as this is the craziest time of year after all.
I go low carb for the weeks leading up to Christmas and then when the big day comes I eat what I want. The years I spent trying not to eat, led to more weight gain then the years where I simply haven’t made it a problem. Don’t let the month be a waste, then too much will be gained.
My new found friend is Green Coffee Bean Coffee. Some swear by it, some haven’t heard of it, but it works for me. I find myself more focused and less hungry through the day. It’s worth trying.
Water, water and oh, more water. It really is the biggest tip to staying fit, full longer and all around healthy. Mix it up with some fresh lemon if the plain water is boring the life right out of you. I also like Nestle flavored water but some people don’t like artificial sweetener, so that is a personal choice.
I’m very fond of Atkins shakes, they work well when I just don’t feel like eating but know I need a little something.
Healthy Eating Tips – Easy Once A Week Meals
I recently read a study that suggested eating the same meals consistently leads to greater weight loss. Like anything else weight loss related this works for some and not for others. I happen to agree, and the thing is, I keep it stupid simple.
- Chicken or Steak meat (you can do fresh or in a bag)
- Broccoli Slaw
- ½ cup water, pinch of soy sauce
I put a drop of olive oil in the pan, start with the onions. Add the meat and mushrooms and broccoli slaw last. I let it cook for about 20 minutes. It’s easy to make a double batch.
- 6 Eggs
- Cheddar Cheese
- Heavy Cream
- Pie Crust
This recipe can veer into the higher calorie count but when I’m reducing it I avoid the crust. Really, all you have to do is mix it all together and put it into the shell, cook 20ish minutes depending on how full the pie crust is. Alternatively, using these same ingredients to make an omelet is just as good and filling.
- Diced Tomatoes
I brown the ground beef in the skillet, add the tomatoes and then put on top of chunks of mozzarella. Also, save some mixture and put over spaghetti squash, thereby creating two meals from one.
