Squash and gourds can be used as decorations in your home or yard. Take some fall flowers (mums are particularly hardy), squash and gourds and make table decorations from them. Of course you can prepare and freeze squash for winter use as well like I wrote about in the zucchini bread post.
The great thing about gourds is they keep for a good long time as long as you don’t puncture the skin. Use the sugar pumpkins as a decoration and then you can cook and puree them later to use in recipes. Acorn squash is a great color change up with the fall colors since it is a dark green. Try these stuffed with a combination of cooked sausage and your favorite bread stuffing. Again, when you are ready to eat one, just take it out of the decore.
Depending on any allergies in your family, you can grab some straw or rafia to lay down under the gourds. If you are setting them outside they look great sitting on straw bales.
Never worry about what's for dinner again. I've got you covered with the meal plans in the Once a Week Cooking Club. Cook once, eat all week.
