I didn’t get this guest article posted in June, with the kids getting out of school and camping.  I may have missed frozen yogurt month, but this article is filled with fun and yummy information so I wanted to make sure and get it posted for you asap.

Want to indulge into something sweet a bit more frequently? Why not try frozen yogurt as a quick sweet treat ? Frozen yogurt is very similar to ice cream, but it is a much healthier alternative! The amount of sugar and fat in frozen yogurt is less than it is in your traditional ice cream. The delicious part of frozen yogurt is not only knowing that it is better for you, but that you can dress it up as if it were ice cream. The possibilities are endless! Try topping your frozen yogurt with fresh fruit, such as blueberries, peaches, strawberries and even watermelon. If you wanted to have your frozen yogurt to be more like a dessert, why not top it with a little chocolate sauce, or mini chocolates with whipped cream! This delicious treat can be enjoyed in some many yummy ways!

Since the 1980′s frozen yogurt has become increasingly popular due to a variety of reasons. Frozen yogurt producers have made the consistency very similar to ice cream and the taste is not as tart as it once was. Also, many people started to pay a bit more attention to their health and their eating habits. People also became more interested in nutrition and diet. Therefore, more and more people are choosing this healthy alternative to ice cream and enjoying it!

For those that like frozen yogurt, but also like the idea and consistency of milkshakes, try making your own frozen yogurt fruit smoothies! Again by using yogurt instead of ice cream, your smoothies are healthier for you because you are keeping the sugar and fat amounts low. It is quite easy to make your own yogurt smoothie. Choose your favorite yogurt and your favorite fruit. Add a few ice cubes to your blender, along with the yogurt and fruit and simply blend! These cool and refreshing drinks are a wonderful way to cool off during those hot summer days. What’s even better about making yogurt smoothies during the summer time is that there is such a wide variety of in season fruits! Blueberries, cherries, mangos, papayas and strawberries are in season and would make for exotic yogurt smoothies. Experiment with various yogurt flavors as well as fruits and discover what your favorite combination may be.
