How are YOU celebrating National Chocolate Cupcake Day?
One of life’s simple indulgences… Chocolate! What’s better than chocolate? Chocolate Cake. What’s even better than chocolate cake? Chocolate Cupcakes!
National Chocolate Cupcake Day was created to celebrate that most perfect form of the Cupcake, the Chocolate Cupcake. Cupcakes have many different names throughout the world, but my personal favorite has to be “Fairy Cakes” from the UK. The origin of the cupcake seems to date as far back as 1796, where cakes cooked in small cups were first mentioned, and the actual term cupcake was first seen in Eliza Leslie’s cookbook.
The idea of a “personal” cake, a cake mini in size, is so popular that there have been many different variations on both the style and technique. Thanks to the convenience of microwave ovens, there are even recipes that enable you to mix and cook a cupcake in less than five minutes! Talk about a perfect sweet treat, is there anything better than unabashedly delicious instant chocolaty delight in 5 minutes or less? I think not!
It’s worth noting though that you don’t actually have to bake a cupcake in a cup or even a cupcake tin. You have lots of options. Cupcakes after all are really all about the size of the end result, not the how we get there – be it traditional baking, microwave or Yes … even a quick stop at the local bakery. National Chocolate Cupcake Day tells you today indulge in every kind you can as often as you want, as long as it contains chocolate! And just think… you don’t have to share your decadent chocolaty treat with anyone! Here is a recipe that I thought looked delicious!
Never worry about what's for dinner again. I've got you covered with the meal plans in the Once a Week Cooking Club. Cook once, eat all week.
