Healthier Halloween Party Snacks

Halloween is almost always associated with candy, cavities, and crummy eating habits! There is chocolate galore, bubble gum, lollipops and everything else that is just screaming to be eaten, right? Well, not necessarily. There are a few ways that you can improve what goes into your body and your children’s body during that Halloween candy free fore all! Here are some healthier Halloween party snack ideas and that everyone will be sure to indulge in. They may not even miss those chocolate candy bars at all!

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds – Embrace the fall season and indulge in her treats-pumpkin seeds being one of them. Kids enjoy getting slimy while fishing out all the pumpkin seeds. Rinse the seeds off and pat dry. Sprinkle a bit of sea salt on them and roast in the oven until crisp. Serve bowls of these delicious and nutritious seeds at your next Halloween party.

Dark Chocolate-Covered Fruit – from frozen chocolate covered grapes to dark chocolate covered apples, this variety of chocolate is a bit healthier than the rest. So if you can’t avoid serving chocolate try and use dark chocolate to maximize the health benefits associated with it. Just be sure to coat some fruit with that dark chocolate and not something else!

Popcorn Bowls – Pop up some low-fat popcorn and sprinkle a few pieces of Reece Pieces throughout or even M and M’s. Popcorn contains a lot of fiber and by adding a few sprinkles of candy coated chocolates adds to the festivities without going completely overboard with sugar.

Pistachios – these delicious nuts are a wonderful alternative to chips. The crunch and touch of salt make these nuts quite popular even with the kids! Serve shelled pistachios in colorful bowls and be sure to purchase the green pistachios as the color would add the Halloween color scheme!

Witches Brew Dip – Make a black bean dip and sprinkle some diced avocado right on top! Be sure to have dippers that match with this color scheme of black and green: blue corn tortilla chips, green peppers and even celery stalks.

Make Your Own Pizzas – Kids truly like to get into the kitchen and create something all there own. Why turn your next Halloween party into a pizza party? Pre slice and chop a variety or vegetables such as: black olives, mushrooms, red and green peppers, onions and pineapple. Be sure to purchase whole wheat pizza dough, tomatoe sauce without all the added sugars and low-fat mozzarella cheese. and Have the children make a spooky face using the ingredients provided. Once the pizza is baked, go ahead and vote on which pizza face is the funniest, spookiest and most creative. This will give the piping hot pizza time to cool as well.
