From dips to the slow cooker, beef onion soup mix is a staple. But I cringe at buying envelopes of mixes when the flavor is generally pretty bland and I’m going to add my own twist to it. Plus it never fails that I’ll be out of it when I need it most.
I was excited to run across a recipe I could tweak to make my own and of course make in bulk. I’ll never buy onion soup mix again. I have the little snack pack seal-able baggies and I add the ingredients right to the bag. There really aren’t that many ingredients. We are way overpaying for the convenience of those envelopes lol
You can grab the ingredients in bulk from Costco or in your bulk section at your favorite grocery store. Then crank out quite a few envelopes at once. Now the original recipe didn’t have the garlic, but I add that to everything. This recipe said it would keep for 6 months but I’ve never tested that.
- 4 tsps beef bouillon
- 8 tsps dried onion flake
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp ground white pepper
- Label snack size seal-able bag, make sure and add date made.
- Add all ingredients to bag.
- Above ingredients makes the equivalent of one envelope of dried soup mix.
