It’s day 23 in the Cook Easy Foodie Blogger Challenge. Today’s question is what is your favorite time saving kitchen gadget or utensil.
Now I already talked about my favorite kitchen appliance being the slow cooker. But now I’m referring to something smaller. Something that saves you time but you just can’t do without it most days. Maybe something you have multiples of because you use it so often. I’m going to list my top 3 that save me. Not necessarily time but I can’t do without them.
1. Spatula/flipper/turner – Whatever you call it at your house, there isn’t a day that goes by that it’s not used. I have 2 metal one’s because I use cast iron skillets and 2 plastic for some of the non-stick pans. Even with 4 it’s difficult to find a clean one on any given day.
2. Timer – One thing I learned from my Mom is to set a timer if you are going to do anything else in the house. It’s just too easy to sit to relax, go do laundry, or completely forget and go outside to do something while you are cooking. Those of us that multi-task really need the extra reminder to go back and check on the food. I prefer a timer that I can hit the numbers quickly instead of having to scroll up or down for time and it has to be magnetic. Stays right on the fridge so I don’t lose it. Not burning my food saves me a ton of time and money.
3. Wine opener – While some are laughing their butts off others of you are just nodding and saying to yourself, “oh yeah!”. No kitchen of mine will ever be complete without a wine bottle opener. It’s a huge help on major cooking days and weekends to get through that final hour or two of meal prep. Maybe it doesn’t save me time per se, but it sure saves my sanity!
So what are your top 3 gadgets or utensils you can’t do without in the kitchen?
