I post a lot of dinner ideas on here and with good reason. That’s where my menu planning leans to in my house and for the meal plans on the site. But what about that all important breakfast?
I don’t branch out a lot for breakfast at home. Even though I know how important it is, it’s just not my favorite meal. If it wasn’t so important for my health I’d gladly skip it! It can be so difficult for me to come up with healthy options I can eat. Most breakfast meats are not on my personal list of foods I’m “allowed” to consume.
Which doesn’t mean I’m not cooking bacon and sausage for the family here and there. It’s just not on the every day menu. I really try to lean towards ham or turkey sausage as much as the budget or good sales will afford.
I only prep ahead things like pancakes and waffles. Like I said, I haven’t branched out to other ideas to make breakfast ahead.
Here’s the chance to come up with some new dishes and plan things out a bit. It’s easier in the mornings to just reheat when the family is going in 2 different directions.
I’ve found quite a few baked oatmeal recipes I’ve been wanting to try. I’ve also been wanting to make some breakfast cookies for years but it just never gets remembered. I keep forgetting to grab protein powder when I’m in the bulk section of my favorite store. Adding the protein powder is the biggest thing I have to play around with.
Now to go on the hunt for breakfast dishes we can try.
Never worry about what's for dinner again. I've got you covered with the meal plans in the Once a Week Cooking Club. Cook once, eat all week.
